MinBizCon+2010+kicks+off

Mindanao Business Conference 2010 kicks off


THE power crisis, responsible mining and enhancing competitiveness of the agribusiness sector would be the top agenda when the Mindanao Business Conference (MinBizCon) kicks off on September 16 at the Grand Caprice Restaurant in LimKetKai Center.

Jaime Rafael Paguio, president of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. (Oro Chamber), said the one-town-one-product (OTOP) for Mindanao Island Fair and Oro Best Expo 2010 would also start on the 16th as delegates for the Mindanao-wide conference registration opens.

This year’s MinBizCon, hosted by the Oro Chamber, will run until September 18, 2010.

Aside from Paguio, expected to grace the OTOP are Department of Trade and
Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Merly M. Cruz and Northern Mindanao director Alicia EuseƱa; DTI Regional Director Nazrullah B. Manzur; Jeffrey T. Ang, OroBest Expo 2010 chairperson; Ruben A. Vegafria, conference director, and US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry K. Thomas Jr.

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano is also expected to express his message of support to the people behind the business conference.

As part of the conference, a special presentation of Therma Marine and National
Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will be held Wednesday at the Phividec Conference Room starting at 10 p.m. while on Thursday, a Mindanao Power Crisis Forum will be held at the Xavier University Little Theatre starting at 8 a.m., to be hosted by XU in cooperation with the Oro Chamber.

The forum would be attended by representatives from the Department of Energy, NGCP, Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) and Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
