ORO CHAMBER CALLS FOR REDUCTION IN POWER CONSUMPTION

ORO CHAMBER CALLS FOR REDUCTION IN POWER CONSUMPTION
“We have to work together to ensure that there will be no power interruptions during the May 10 elections.”
This is the statement of ORO CHAMBER President Jaime Rafael U. Paguio during a Security Briefing conducted by the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office at the request of the Officers of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (ORO CHAMBER).
Mr. Paguio reiterated the need for businesses and households to reduce their respective power consumption in order to ensure that there will be sufficient power supply to allow for the holding of clean, peaceful and orderly elections on May 10.
The supply of electricity is critical to the smooth and unhampered operation of the country’s first ever automated electoral process. Mr. Paguio called on everyone’s contribution to a credible and successful May 10 elections by easing up the load on the power distribution system so that adequate power is made available for the PCOS machines to effectively operate.
He said that minimizing the use of airconditioning units and other power-intensive appliances such as bread toasters, microwave ovens, flat irons and others at least for three days is already a big contribution.
Members of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office spearheaded by its Director Col. Benedicto B. Lopez conducted the Security Briefing held at the VIP Hotel.
The ORO CHAMBER is also requesting civic minded residents who have generating sets to make them available for emergency use during the election period.  The ORO CHAMBER is accepting volunteers for this program.
